Description
The Division of Women’s Mental Health within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine is seeking a part-time academic Reproductive Psychiatrist to join our Perinatal Intensive Outpatient Program (PIOP) at our Westchester Square Campus in the Bronx.
In the fall of 2024, the Montefiore-Einstein Department of Psychiatry was designated a Behavioral Health Center of Excellence by the New York State Office of Mental Health and tasked with building a PIOP in the Bronx. The PIOP will be housed in a brand-new state-of-the-art facility with a co-located nursery. Average patient census is approximately 36.
The Reproductive Psychiatrist will work on a team that includes a Psychologist, two social workers, and excellent administrative staff. This position comes with leadership potential dependent on experience. The clinical responsibilities include outpatient clinical care of perinatal patients with moderate to severe mental illness who meet the program admission criteria.
The PIOP team will participate in the education and training of many different learners including medical students, Psychiatry residents, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellows, Psychology Interns and Reproductive Psychology Postdocs.
The PIOP will have three cohorts with twelve patients per cohort. The co-located nursery census has a cap of twelve. While the PIOP will draw patients from the tri-state area, the mission of Montefiore is oriented to providing outstanding, comprehensive care to the Bronx communities with a focus on social determinants of health and social justice.
Montefiore and the Department of Psychiatry are committed to career and academic development, physician and family wellness, diversity and inclusion and excellence in patient care and medical education. Mentorship and research opportunities are available. We offer competitive salary and benefits. Attendings will be proposed for faculty appointments at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Eligible applicants are Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry. Additional training in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and/or Reproductive Psychiatry is highly encouraged but not required.
